How do I choose a Memory Card?

To choose a memory card, first see the manual of your digital camera, PDA, MP3 player, or other digital device to determine the types and capacities of memory cards that can be used with your particular model.  For an explanation of the different memory card types, as well as some of the typical digital camera brands associated with them, click Type.  The Type of a memory card can be Secure Digital (SD), miniSD, Multimedia (MMC), XD, CompactFlash (CF), Memory Stick (MS), TransFlash, and Smartmedia.  The Capacity of a memory card can range from 16 megabytes (MB) to 4 gigabytes (GB).

Once you have determined the type and capacity of the memory card you need:

  1. Select Type and Capacity in All Questions and provide values for them.
  2. View and "play" with your recommendations in the Suggestions Table.  Change importance and values to see how changes in requirements affect the recommendations.  You can also make changes by going back to All Questions.
